These replaced a set of Neptune WAV pumps, sounds crazy right. The issue I had with the Neptune WAV was even in a 120 Gal. Tank they were too powerful. I literally had to run them on 1% in order to keep them from displacing sand and ripping some of my corals from the rock work. I'm sure if you put a lot of effort on placement you could make them work but my placement isbased on PAR needs and I didnt need another layer of complexity. It really doesn't matter how configurable something is if you have to run it on the lowest setting all the time.So onto these pumps. I setup two of these and 2 SW-4s around the tank. Using the Wavemaker Adapter Linkage (Sold Separately) after a few hours of trial and error programming my Apex I was able to create what I think is a really nice random flow that varies depending on time of day. I getting full polyp extension again and waste is getting stirred up nicely . So basically corals are happy and overall my tank is cleaner. I did go with four pump to eliminate dead spots, even though it's completely possible to do it with two because of how easy they are to aimIm the last year I've done long-term tests on the Vortech MP20, Maxspect Gyre XF230 and Neptune WAV. While the Jebaos are far more difficult to configure and add to the Neptune ecosystem once to get them set I really do think they're some of the best PH out today.I bought this for my 20g hex sps-dominated reef. I chose this model due to it being smaller than the SW-4, as my tank has limited clearance between rocks and glass.I had a feeling that one pump wouldn't be enough flow, and I was correct. The single pump gives decent flow, in relation to its compact size. A second will likely be added soon. The multiple flow modes are pretty cool, and are the real difference between a regular D.C. Pump. The updated controller for the SW-series makes dialing in really easy and customizable. The only step up would be one of the system controllers.I have several Jebao brand products(D.C. Return pump, skimmer) and I am really quite satisfied with the quality of all of them. If you factor in the price for one of the higher end brands, Jebao blows the competition away. There's no other controller equipped pumps that can be had for under $100. Plus theses are "Apex-ready" so they can be added to a controller that runs your whole setup(I don't have one).
